Bowling at the First Baptist Church
When Paul Lorraine saw the success of the Church Softball League,
he wondered aloud how come we couldn't have a Christian bowling
league in the city as well. He put the bug in the Pastor's ear and
before long the Baptist bowlers were born.
In 1992 we formed the league with six teams. The Should-A-Beens,
featuring Oliver and Barbara Bray, Harry Calkins and Nancy
(Sederquest) Schuster, won the inaugural championship.
Over the years we have involved many members and friends of the
church and had as many as ten teams at any given time. Last last two
summers we reached out to the other churches again to see if we
could transform the league into a true Church Bowling League and
several churches were represented in our offering.
Next summer we will enjoy another season of recreational bowling at
the Norwich Ten Pin. If you want to bowl with us next summer as a four
person team or as an individual, call the church office at 889-0369 and
leave your name and phone number.
Sharon Fishkin was added to our Hall of Fame this year!
